Vintage, quirky and so feminine...
Mazi designer, Effie Evriniadis epitomizes her label Mazi.
Stemming from a love of antique lace, old world colour and exotic beading, Effie has created distinctive signature pieces that playfully come together to form what has been described as a very recognizable Mazi layered look.
Completing her education at the Melbourne College of Textiles in 1986, 1992 saw the first Mazi boutique open in Melbourne, quickly followed by what would become both Mazi headquarters and Effie's second boutique in Melbourne at 203 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.
Effie points out that she still feels driven by her love of fashion and that original desire to address what is missing in her own wardrobe.
Effie designs unique limited editions, I do this mindfully Effie says, I do this to ensure a high level of exclusivity. While her design principle involves building on a black sensual fabric then adding an eye-catching feature piece to complete the outfit. "The dress must not only fit perfectly, the fabric must also feel wonderful to the touch" says Effie.
Co-ordinate a myriad of different outfits from a few key pieces, the Mazi look is definitely versatile. "I feel that today's fashion savvy woman looks beyond fads and trends for more timeless pieces, pieces that are of course beautiful but also affordable and this is what Mazi is about."
Translated from Greek, Mazi lovingly means "together" and this small word permeates every aspect of the Mazi family. Mazi is to be seen in the way individual garments appear to seamlessly come together and form a very feminine layered aesthetic. Mazi is also to be found in the unique spirit that has evolved and continues to evolve between Mazi and her customer.
