The daughter of a fashion designer and head seamstress, it's no wonder how Petrova Hammond made her way into the fashion world- she was born for it. Growing up playing dress ups and draping herself in her parent's vintage fabrics and lace- it was only a matter of time before Petrova became 'Lady Petrova'.
Making the journey from home photo-shoots with her Barbies and experimenting with styling in high school, to graduating from RMIT in 2003 and launching her innovative label in 2007- it's clear to see she has come a long way. Lady Petrova's path to success has been as whimsical, colorful and as lady-like as one would imagine. Having been a finalist in Australia's first Project Runway in 2008 she has since featured in many leading fashion publications and caught the eye of international fashion icons such as the ever mesmerizing Lana Del Rey, who wore Lady Petrova's 'Snow Queen' dress in her music video clip for 'Ride'.
Lady Petrova's Melbourne boutique resides in a hidden laneway off Flinders Lane it is truly an enchanting escape for any urban princess- a dreamland of lace, tulle, crystals and colour. The piece de resistance is her custom made doll's house shop counter, an honest homage to every woman's inner girl.
The boutique further expresses Lady Petrova's belief in empowering women and supporting other female creatives. From other labels she carries, right down to the imported wooden floor- Lady Petrova ensures they are all created, designed and made by women.
